Research

Library patrons are usually unfamiliar with many of the valuable databases available. The library card gives them access to research tools and resources 24/7. Unfortunately, many library websites merely place a link/logo of the database and patrons are left on their own.

Below we’ve created a bare bones approach of how libraries can help patrons learn about the various databases. Expanding on this, librarians can provide a more detailed description of how, when and why a particular database would be useful. This type of introduction to the database tool would help encourage usage and provide the user with a minimal amount of knowledge so as to have a fruitful first experience.
